The short version

The Odds Gap is free and the whole board works without an account. We never collect your name or your payment details, and we never take a bet. We do collect an email address in one case: if you choose to sign up for The Odds Gap Daily or for the Live Beta, we store the address you type in and use it to send you the thing you signed up for. Nothing else on the site asks for it, and you can unsubscribe or have the address deleted at any time. We use standard analytics cookies to understand traffic, and we earn commissions when you sign up at some of the betting venues we link to. Those commissions never affect the prices we display or which book the data ranks first.

What we collect

• Your email address, only if you hand it to us. Two optional signups ask for one, and both are opt-in:
  • The Odds Gap Daily, the morning email. We store your address, the date you signed up, and the sports you ticked, so the email can be filtered to them. The signup form also records the IP address and browser user agent of that one request, which is how we tell a real signup from a bot.
  • The Live Beta, which unlocks the one-minute board and browser alerts. We store your address and the date you joined, and we set a signed cookie named og_live on your browser so the live board recognizes you on your next visit. That cookie contains your email address in encoded form and is readable only by our server.
  Both lists are stored on our hosting and in an off-site backup so a redeploy cannot lose them. We use your address to send you what you asked for and for nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, advertise against it, or hand it to a sportsbook, an exchange, or an affiliate partner. Sending the email requires a third-party email delivery provider, which processes your address to deliver the message. Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link. The Live Beta address is kept so your live access can be restored and so we can reach you about the beta itself, and today that list is otherwise used only to count how many people have joined. You can have your address removed from either list at any time by writing to [email protected].
• Push alert subscriptions. If you turn on browser alerts, your browser gives us a push endpoint URL and two keys that let us send a notification to that browser. We store those with the alert thresholds and books you chose. They identify a browser, not a person, and turning alerts off deletes them.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to measure visits, pages viewed, and general usage patterns. GA4 sets cookies and collects device and approximate location data per Google's privacy policy. We see aggregated reports, not your identity.
• Watchlists and preferences. Saved games, odds-format and state-filter choices are stored in your browser's local storage on your device. They never leave your browser and we cannot see them.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider (Railway) keeps standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security and debugging, retained briefly.

We do not sell personal information, run third-party ad networks, or build advertising profiles.

Cookies

There are two kinds of cookie here. The first is Google Analytics, which you can block with your browser settings or an extension like a content blocker; the site works fully without it. The second is og_live, set only if you join the Live Beta. It holds your email address in encoded form, signed so it cannot be forged, and its only job is to tell our server that your browser is entitled to the live board. It is not used for advertising or tracking, and clearing your cookies removes it.

You can also switch analytics off just for this browser. The setting is stored on your device, so it holds on any network, including mobile data, and it applies to the installed app as well when you set it from inside the app.

Outbound links

When you leave for a sportsbook, exchange, or any third-party site, that site's own privacy policy and terms govern. Affiliate partners may use their own cookies to attribute your sign-up to us; that tracking happens on their domain, not ours.

Quoting our figures

Quoting any figure or finding published on this site is welcome, with attribution to The Odds Gap and a link to the page it came from. Our measurements, the matched-lines comparisons, the staleness and dispersion studies and the captured opening lines, are our own work and are licensed on that basis. The underlying odds are facts we aggregate from sources with their own terms. Bulk or automated reuse of the underlying data, rather than quoting a published figure, needs a conversation first: [email protected].

Age and responsible gambling
