How to lock it: place the value bet first, then the cash hedge immediately at the live number, sizing the stake to hedge stake = value payout ÷ hedge decimal odds. A free bet costs nothing on the value side, a boost / cash / no-sweat bet is real money with the stake returned.

Prediction markets (Kalshi, Polymarket, ProphetX) are exchanges, so a large hedge can slip on a thin book. Confirm depth or split the hedge.
