The Odds Gap Discord Bot: Owner Packet

Welcome

Thanks for adding The Odds Gap bot. Its price commands are free, it gives no picks, and it does one thing: shows your members the best price on any bet across every major sportsbook and prediction market, right inside your Discord.

Setup (About 3 Minutes)

You need Manage Server permission. The bot asks for two permissions only, Send Messages and Embed Links, and it never reads your members' messages.

1. Make a channel for it, for example #the-odds-gap.

2. Add the bot from theoddsgap.com/discord-bot (the gold button), pick your server, click Continue, then Authorize.

3. Lock it to that channel (desktop only): Server Settings > Integrations > The Odds Gap. Under Channels, turn All Channels off, click Add channel and pick your channel. Save.

4. Test it: in that channel type /odds game, start typing a team, pick a game and press Enter.

5. Send me your server ID so I can switch on the extras below: User Settings > Advanced > Developer Mode on, then right-click your server icon > Copy Server ID.

Two things to know:

• Admins skip channel locks, so commands still work for you everywhere. Test with a non-admin account to see what members see.
• If you ever delete the channel the bot is locked to, members lose it everywhere. Just add a new channel under Integrations.

What I Can Switch on for You

Out of the box the bot shows hourly game lines from 7am to 9pm ET. Tell me which of these you want and I'll usually turn them on within a day:

You control the rest yourself: type /oddsadmin in your server (you need Manage Server) to hide any books your members can't use and turn individual commands on or off. It only changes your server. Not sure which books to hide? The list below works well as a poll for your members.

Every Command

Members type /odds, pick a command, and start typing a team, player or league. Autocomplete fills in the rest.

Sports: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, college football, college basketball, UFC, tennis and soccer.

Books We Cover

These are the books your members can see in the bot. You can hide any of them in your server with /oddsadmin, so this list makes an easy poll.

That's 20 in all. The offshore and reference books are shown for comparison only. They are never counted as the best price and never linked. If you'd rather your members not see them, hide them with /oddsadmin.

Which books are legal depends on the state. Members should always confirm a price at their own book before they bet.

A Post to Pin for Your Members

Copy the post below, paste it into the bot's channel and pin it. The asterisks turn into bold text in Discord. If I haven't switched on /odds ask or the live board for you yet, delete the /odds ask line and the "update about every minute" sentence first.

Start typing a team or player and autocomplete fills it in.

**Why it matters:** the same bet can pay a lot more at one book than another. Shopping the best number on every bet adds up over a season.

Questions Owners Have Asked

Is it really free?

Yes. The bot's price commands, the website and the app are free. /odds ask is free for your first 30 days. The only thing we charge for today is historical odds data for people building models, and you never need it.

Does it give picks?

Never. It only shows where the best price is, so it never competes with your picks. It makes them easier to bet at the best number.

Should I pin the commands?

Yes. Pin the post above in the bot's channel so members know what to type.

Can I hide books my members can't use?

Yes, yourself. Type /oddsadmin (you need Manage Server) and pick the books to hide. It only changes your server, and you can turn individual commands off there too.

Can the bot post +EV prices on its own?

Yes. Once the live board is on, use /oddsadmin to pick a channel and turn on +EV alerts, DFS pick'em alerts or both. You set how strict they are and a cap per hour, and you can switch them off any time.

How many questions can members ask /odds ask?

10 per member per day.

How fresh are the prices?

Without the live board: game lines hourly from 7am to 9pm ET, props every four hours, futures daily. With it on: sportsbook game lines about every minute, props every hour for games inside 24 hours (every 4 hours for the day after that), futures hourly.

Does the bot read our chat?

No. It only answers when someone types /odds, and it only has Send Messages and Embed Links.

It works for me in other channels. Is the lock broken?

No. Discord lets admins skip channel locks. Members only see it in the channel you picked.

Members can't use it anymore.

The channel it was locked to was probably deleted or renamed. Add a channel back under Server Settings > Integrations > The Odds Gap.

What happens after the 30 days of /odds ask?

The bot gives a heads up in its answers three days before the trial ends, and I'll reach out before anything changes.
